A todos nos encantan las listas, y quien diga que no miente, porque siempre acabamos entrando a ver en qué puesto está nuestra canción favorita, nuestro grupo preferido o, como es el caso que nos ocupa, la mejor guitarra en un tema. No se puede evitar, somos curiosos y nos gusta mirar las listas para luego criticarlas y decir que son un error, que cómo puede estar determinado artista más arriba que otro, y así hasta un largo etcétera de posibilidades.

A la revista que más le gustan las listas es a Rolling Stone sin duda. Año a año la música en este magazine mensual pasa a ser un mero pretexto para hablar sobre temas tan banales como el último novio de una actriz o dedicarle la portada a la modelo de turno. Una pena ver a la Rolling Stone como se la está viendo (de la edición española mejor ni hablamos).

Y qué mejor que reiterar listas y listas para seguir con el tirón de los melómanos y de los curiosos. Hace ya un tiempo nos presentó los 25 mejores DVDs musicales, la polémica lista de los 500 mejores discos, o los 100 mejores guitarristas de la historia. No hay tema que no tenga una.

En este caso, se trata de resumir en cien canciones, las que mejor presencia de guitarras tengan. Puede volver a ser discutida, polémica, e incluso plantearse cuál es el criterio de la selección. Entre las 20 primeras llama la atención que el You really got me de The Kinks esté cuando sólo cuenta con un riff pegadizo, muy bueno sí, pero no tanto como cualquiera de Jimi Hendrix. Es el mismo caso de My Generation de The Who.

Hay material para comentar días y días. Chuck Berry justo o no líder de la lista, Hendrix, BB King tan atrás, al igual que Jeff Beck, la falta de más canciones de funk… Pero así son las listas, imperfectas. ¿Cuál añadirías tú entre las 100 mejores?

Pero centrémonos. La impresión que una canción nos causa viene, en muchos casos, determinada por los primeros veinte segundos. Si el comienzo es malo, pocas se salvan y terminamos desterrándolas al ostracismo musical. Si además nos paramos a escuchar la letra de la canción la exigencia se eleva aún más. En español tenemos las grandes rimas con que Mecano amenizó los guateques ochenteros, pero como una es muy cool, aquí os dejo las que se consideran las 25 mejores estrofas con que comienza una canción.
